What Are VI Peels?

The VI Peel is a powerful yet gentle medical-grade chemical peel designed to improve the tone, texture, and clarity of the skin. Unlike more aggressive peels that come with significant downtime or discomfort, the VI Peel offers a more approachable alternative with meaningful, visible results. It works by combining a unique blend of ingredients—including TCA, salicylic acid, phenol, retinoic acid, and vitamin C—to exfoliate the skin, stimulate collagen, and target a wide range of aesthetic concerns, all while keeping inflammation and redness to a minimum.

What makes this peel particularly unique is its ability to address multiple skin conditions simultaneously—hyperpigmentation, fine lines, acne, scarring, and textural irregularities—with a treatment protocol that is safe for all skin types and tones. The VI Peel can also be used on areas that are typically too sensitive for traditional peels, such as under the eyes, making it one of the most versatile and trusted options in advanced skin rejuvenation.

Aesthetic Concerns Addressed

The VI Peel is designed to target both visible and underlying skin concerns, making it a smart, all-in-one treatment for patients seeking significant improvement without multiple procedures. It addresses:

  • Sun damage and pigmentation: Whether from UV exposure, melasma, or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, the VI Peel works to fade unwanted discoloration and brighten the overall complexion.
  • Acne and acne scarring: Salicylic acid helps clear congested pores while retinoic acid reduces oil production and promotes skin turnover—both of which are key for breakout-prone skin.
  • Fine lines and texture loss: TCA and vitamin C stimulate collagen and elastin production, improving firmness and softening fine lines over time.
  • Redness and inflammation: Phenol in the peel helps calm the skin, making this treatment effective even for those with reactive or unevenly toned skin.
  • Rough skin and dullness: By accelerating exfoliation, the VI Peel leaves skin smoother, clearer, and noticeably more radiant.

This multi-action formula allows our team to address several concerns in one treatment plan, making it a client favorite for those looking for visible change without the intensity of lasers or extended recovery time.

Benefits of the VI Peel

The appeal of the VI Peel lies in its ability to deliver dramatic results with a manageable post-treatment experience. Unlike traditional chemical peels that may require days of downtime or carry risks of hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones, the VI Peel was developed to be inclusive, effective, and safe for a wide variety of skin types and ethnicities. Benefits include:

  • Improved skin tone and evenness with fewer dark spots and blotchy patches
  • Visibly smaller pores and a smoother, more refined texture
  • Softer lines and restored skin firmness thanks to increased collagen production
  • Noticeably brighter skin with an all-over refreshed appearance
  • Fewer active breakouts and less congestion in oily or acne-prone areas
  • Safe treatment for delicate regions, including under the eyes, neck, and chest

It’s not just about surface-level changes—it’s about long-term skin health. Regular use of the VI Peel can help reinforce your skin’s barrier, reduce inflammation, and support your skin’s ability to regenerate itself more effectively over time.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a VI Peel?

The VI Peel is ideal for individuals seeking a solution to complex skin issues that can’t be addressed with products alone. If you’ve been frustrated by uneven skin tone, stubborn dark spots, dull texture, or recurring breakouts, this treatment offers a science-backed path toward real change. It’s also a great option for those new to peels, as the treatment is designed to minimize discomfort and downtime while still delivering noticeable results.

It’s safe and effective for all Fitzpatrick skin types, making it a reliable choice for patients with deeper skin tones who may be wary of more aggressive treatments. That said, the VI Peel may not be appropriate for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or currently taking medications that affect skin sensitivity. During your consultation, your Kucumber specialist will help determine if the VI Peel aligns with your skin’s needs and your overall goals.

Your Consultation at Kucumber Skin Lounge

At our med spa, Kucumber Skin Lounge, every peel begins with a thoughtful consultation. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all treatment plans. Instead, our specialists take the time to understand your skin’s current condition, history, and what you’re hoping to improve. We’ll examine the areas of concern, evaluate whether the VI Peel is the right fit for your goals, and if needed, recommend a series of peels or combine it with complementary treatments to maximize results.

This is also your chance to ask questions, express any sensitivities or hesitations, and understand how to best prepare for and recover from your treatment. From start to finish, our priority is to make sure you feel informed, supported, and confident in your care.

VI PEEL TREATMENT

The VI Peel is a premixed formula containing TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) for collagen stimulation and skin penetration, Phenol for skin soothing and penetration, Salicylic Acid for exfoliation, Tretinoin for anti-aging and collagen stimulation, and Vitamin C for anti-oxidant benefits and mild exfoliation. The peel is applied in layers and left on the skin for 6 hours; you’ll leave Kucumber with the peel still on your skin. After six hours, you rinse off the peel; the initial effects will be immediately visible with brighter and tighter-looking skin. Following treatment, you use a specialized seven-day at-home skin care regimen to protect your skin and enhance the outcomes of your VI Peel.

Your knowledgeable Kucumber specialist will assess your basic medical history and skin conditions, and discuss your treatment goals to determine which formula strength in the VI Peel family is right for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The VI Peel is designed to be gentle and is well-tolerated by most patients of various skin types and colors. Typically, your treated skin will begin to slough off by day three, with the peeling continuing between three and seven days. When the VI Peel is applied to the body, peeling usually lasts longer, from three to ten days. Moisturizer is provided in your post-peel care kit to help address the dryness and flaking of the skin-shedding process. Post-peel skincare includes sun care products; these will be provided and must be used to ensure optimal outcomes. The noticeable improvement should last eight to twelve weeks, and longer in some cases. Patients with more severe skin issues may need to repeat the procedure to achieve optimal results.

Whatever your unique skin type and concerns, you can revitalize your special natural beauty with the VI Peel at Kucumber.

The VI Peel Procedure

The treatment itself is simple, quick, and surprisingly gentle. After your skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepped, the VI Peel solution is applied in layers using gauze. It goes on easily, and most clients experience a slight tingling or warming sensation, which typically fades within a few minutes. There’s no need to stay in the office after the peel is applied—you’ll leave with it still on your skin, and you’ll be instructed to wash it off about six hours later at home.

You’ll also go home with a post-care kit that includes detailed instructions and medical-grade skincare products designed to support your skin as it begins to exfoliate and rebuild. Following the regimen as prescribed will help ensure you get the best possible results with minimal irritation.

Results from the VI Peel

Most clients begin to see visible improvements in skin tone, clarity, and texture within a week of their first treatment. The skin starts to peel—often between days 3 and 5—and by day 7, a brighter, smoother layer of skin is revealed. Results continue to improve in the weeks that follow as collagen production increases and deeper pigmentation fades.

For those with more persistent concerns like acne scarring or melasma, we may recommend a series of VI Peels spaced several weeks apart. In many cases, a customized combination approach—pairing VI Peel with microneedling, laser treatments, or injectables—can help accelerate and maintain your results. The goal isn’t just to improve your skin temporarily, but to help it function better long-term.

Recovery and Aftercare

One of the biggest advantages of the VI Peel is how manageable the recovery process is. Immediately after the treatment, your skin may appear slightly red or feel tight, similar to a mild sunburn. By the third day, gentle peeling begins, and it may last anywhere from 3 to 7 days, depending on your skin type and the area treated.

The peeling process is typically light and sheet-like rather than heavy or crusty, so many clients feel comfortable continuing normal activities with just a bit of extra moisturizer and sunscreen. It’s important not to pick or manually exfoliate peeling skin, as this can interfere with the natural renewal process and potentially lead to irritation.

Your at-home aftercare kit will guide you through cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting your skin during this stage. Most clients are surprised by how quickly their skin returns to normal, only clearer, brighter, and healthier than before.

VI Peel FAQs

Peeling typically begins around day 3 and can last up to 7 days. Most clients experience light, sheet-like flaking rather than intense peeling. The process is manageable and often complete within a week, revealing smoother, brighter skin underneath.

Yes. The VI Peel is especially effective for post-acne pigmentation and mild to moderate acne scarring. Its blend of ingredients helps break up discoloration, stimulate collagen production, and improve skin texture over time. For deeper scarring, it may be combined with microneedling or other resurfacing treatments.

Many clients notice brighter, clearer skin within 7 days of their first peel. Full results—including smoother texture and more even tone—continue to develop over the following 2 to 4 weeks as collagen remodeling takes place.

Yes. One of the most significant advantages of the VI Peel is that it’s formulated to be safe and effective for all skin tones, including Fitzpatrick types IV to VI. It’s a go-to option for treating hyperpigmentation and melasma in deeper skin tones without the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation often associated with stronger peels or lasers.

We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours after your peel to allow your skin to begin the healing process undisturbed. Once peeling begins, it’s best to keep skin clean and moisturized, and to avoid heavy foundations until peeling has completed.

It depends on your goals. For general brightening or a “refresh,” one peel may be enough. For concerns like acne scars, melasma, or sun damage, a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart may be recommended. During your consultation, we’ll create a personalized plan based on your skin and desired outcome.

Yes, but timing is important. Since peeling typically starts around day 3 and can last up to a week, we recommend scheduling your VI Peel 10 to 14 days before any major event to allow for complete exfoliation and recovery.
