What Is Laser Tattoo Removal?

Laser tattoo removal gives you a way to hit reset on ink that no longer fits your life. It’s a safe, non-invasive treatment that breaks down tattoo pigment so your body can flush it out over time. No harsh chemicals, no cutting—just light-based technology doing what it does best.

People choose removal for all kinds of reasons: a change in career, a breakup, or simply growing out of something that once felt like a fit. Whatever your reason, we’re here to make it easy and judgment-free.

How Laser Tattoo Removal Works

The laser sends short bursts of light into the skin, targeting the ink. Different wavelengths go after different colors, and once the laser hits the pigment, it breaks the ink into tiny pieces. From there, your body naturally processes and clears it out. The fading happens gradually, over a series of sessions.

Not all ink is the same. Black ink usually fades faster, while colors like blue, red, and green take a little more time. We customize each session to your tattoo and skin, so you’re not getting a one-size-fits-all approach. You’re getting a plan that works.

Treatment Areas

Tattoos can go just about anywhere—and so can laser removal. We treat everything from full sleeves to small wrist tattoos, backs to ankles, and even cosmetic tattoos like microblading. Wherever the ink is, we’ve likely treated it before.

Some areas—like the neck and face—tend to respond faster thanks to better circulation. Spots like the feet or hands may take a few more sessions. We’ll walk you through what to expect based on where your tattoo is and how your body will respond.

Laser Tattoo Removal Benefits

Laser tattoo removal is a smart option if you want results without a lot of downtime. The laser focuses only on the ink, leaving the rest of your skin alone. That means fewer side effects and a smoother healing process.

It also gives you options. You don’t have to erase the whole tattoo if you don’t want to. We can lighten part of it to prep for a cover-up, remove specific lines, or fade an old design so it’s easier to start fresh.

Who It’s For

Most people with unwanted ink are good candidates. If your skin is healthy and you’re open to a process that takes time (and a little patience), chances are you’ll do great. Things like tattoo age, size, depth, and color all play a role, and we’ll go over that during your first visit.

Darker skin tones and colorful tattoos used to be tricky with older lasers, but today’s tech is much better. We work with all skin types and a wide range of tattoo styles—professional, amateur, cosmetic, you name it.

Your Laser Tattoo Removal Consultation

Before we do anything, we’ll sit down with you to talk about your tattoo, your goals, and how the process works. Some people want their ink gone completely. Others want it faded enough to cover. We’ll figure that out together.

We’ll also look at your tattoo’s color, size, and placement, then come up with a plan based on how your skin is likely to react. It’s not a rushed conversation—it’s about setting expectations and making sure you’re comfortable with the plan.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL TREATMENT

Our laser employs various wavelengths that target the ink that is suspended in the skin. The quick laser pulses heat the pigment, rupturing the cells that contain the ink. The ruptured cells are then cleared from the skin by the body’s natural healing processes and new, healthy ink-free cells are formed. It is this precise combination of your body’s own healing processes, triggered by a powerful, targeted laser treatment that removes the ink from the tattoo site and flushes it out of your body through the lymphatic system.

Our laser can remove a variety of tattoos; however, the number of treatments required can only be determined during your consultation. For example, amateur tattoos are generally less saturated and contain lighter inks, making these tattoos easy to remove in a few sessions. Whereas permanent makeup inks may take even more sessions. Permanent makeup often uses red, brown, and white pigments containing titanium dioxide and iron oxide. These compounds are more difficult to remove, so removal of permanent makeup often requires additional sessions. Professional tattoos are notorious for a wide range of chemical compositions and inorganic substances such as chromium green, cobalt blue, or cadmium yellow. These are known to cause adverse skin reactions and take a number of treatments to remove. Your practitioner will thoroughly review all factors and estimate the number of treatments your tattoo removal requires during your complimentary consultation.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your skin type and the age, location, color, ink layering, chemical composition, and amount of ink will affect the outcome of the tattoo removal process. Nearly every patient will require multiple laser treatments to remove a tattoo, with most seeing satisfactory results in seven to ten treatments. Some heavily pigmented, professional tattoos may require up to twenty sessions, particularly if the tattoo is saturated in blue, green, and dark tones.

Common side effects are immediate post-treatment redness and swelling. The application of a cold compress often provides relief. Depending on your pain tolerance, the laser can be more painful for some patients. A topical numbing agent may be used during treatment to ensure your comfort.

Results & Recovery

You won’t walk out with a clear patch of skin—this takes time. Most people see fading after a couple of sessions, but full removal often takes 6 to 10 visits (sometimes more). Your body needs time between treatments to clear the ink, and spacing out sessions gives you better long-term results.

After each session, the treated area might be red, a little swollen, or feel warm for a day or two. Some people get blistering or mild scabbing—that’s normal. The key is to keep it clean, moisturized, and protected from the sun. We’ll guide you through the recovery, every time.
